Day 25: 10 Ways to Win Your Heart
Day 26: Your Religious Beliefs
If you’re looking for a specific title then I’m a Wiccan, but I’m not really a typical Wiccan. Usually when someone thinks of a Wiccan they see some hippy dippy moon child dancing naked around a fire, I honestly find those people kinda annoying. I rarely practice but when I do it’s just me meditating as I burn candles and incense. But maybe I should actually explain what I believe by being a Wiccan, I believe that everyone is capable of performing magic, keep in mind that I don’t mean stuff like manifesting fireballs or something, more just that through focused thoughts and meditation you can cause certain things to happen, usually very subtle things. I know that most scientifically minded people might scoff at such a thing and I don’t expect them to believe in it, but it’s also important that they know that my religion never makes me disbelieve some scientific discovery. I don’t believe in a one god, I believe in the god and goddess, represented by the sun and moon. I know that the sun is a large ball of burning gas that the Earth orbits around and not some chariot being drawn across the sky, but the deities I believe in are the spiritual representation of the sun and moon.
I used to also identify as a Unitarian, but now I just consider myself a part of the Unitarian community. All through high school I attended Unitarian church, but I eventually had my falling out with the religion because I got tired of how integrated politics was in the religion. I feel like your spiritual beliefs and your political beliefs should be independent of each other and I got tired of coming to services only to hear about various people’s political agendas. I still consider myself a part of the Unitarian community because I feel that Unitarians are some of the most amazing and unique people you can meet and I still want to be around them, I just don’t want to get into any political discussion with them.
